This cutting procedure is mainly used for the surface machining of metal workpieces. The workpieces and abrasive chips \u2013 complemented in most cases by a water-based additive compound \u2013 are poured into a tank as bulk materials. The oscillating or rotating movement of the work tank creates a relative movement between the workpiece and the abrasive chips, thus abrading material from the workpiece, and from its edges in particular. The surface appearance of the workpieces, their roughness, the material abrasion, as well as their deburring performance can be more or less freely varied by means of the machines and tools deployed (abrasive chips and compound).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The German DIN 8589 standard<\/strong> refers to vibratory grinding as <b>barrel finishing<\/b>. This is due to the fact that grinding does not always take place, and lapping or polishing is applied in many cases depending on the individual process.
